The Summer Work Experience program (SWE) is a six-week youth training program that provides high school students with disabilities the opportunity to earn a paycheck while gaining meaningful, real-world work experience in a positive and accessible environment. Through several 4–5 hour shifts each week, participants explore different job tasks and develop workplace skills such as communication, task focus, self-advocacy, and taking direction. Job Coaches support participants by working alongside them to help meet employer expectations, providing continued training, addressing performance challenges, and helping participants build relationships with coworkers and supervisors while developing natural supports on the job. The program spans six weeks from approximately June to July, and selected candidates must attend training sessions in April and May. Please note that this is a temporary, part-time position and the working hours are 20-22 hours per week.
