About The Position

To assist Physical Education teacher in the general supervision and management of UCA students. UCA recognizes teaching and the care of children as integral part of the 5-fold ministry given to the church in Ephesians 4:11-13. As such, UCA teachers and instructional aides serve as ministers to help advance the mission and vision of United Christian Academy. Reports to: Supervising Teacher and Grade Level Principal directly and indirectly to all authorities to whom the Principal is subject.

Requirements

  • Must be a born-again Christian.
  • Must be a credible Christian role model whose godly lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Bible.
  • Must be able to support and comply with the school’s Statement of Faith and Christian Conduct.
  • Must be a member of an evangelical, Bible-believing church.
  • Have an understanding of and commitment to UCA’s educational objectives and philosophy of education.
  • Must be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the school’s educational philosophy.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills, with proper command of the English language.
  • Able to work well independently, manage time well, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ideal applicant will have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, have patience, and be able to relate well to children and employees.
  • Able to work with students of all grade levels (K-12).
  • First Aid/CPR Certificate.
  • TB clearance within the last four years.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance.
  • Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986: An Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) will be required along with the supporting documents listed on the I-9 form
  • Displays a personal decorum that models professionalism, modesty, and good taste
  • Models Christian virtues in attitude, speech, and action
  • Exhibits the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22,23)
  • Models and cultivates habits of prayer, faith, and encouragement
  • Commits and contributes to a local church
  • Maintains good attendance and physical endurance to fulfill job duties
  • Uses professional etiquette appropriate for Christian school
  • Shows positive, cheerful attitude with parents, students and staff
  • Shows integrity in dealing with confidential information

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred applicant should be in the process of becoming professionally prepared to supervise young children, and meet the requirements of the licensing agency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the teacher.
  • Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, including set up and tear down of class as needed, setting up class activities and preparing needed materials and supplies. This will require some heaving lifting, pushing and pulling.
  • Supervise the class when the teacher is away.
  • Supervise students in the gym and/or play areas.
  • Complete incident and accident reports thoroughly and in a timely manner
  • Assist the teacher in any other appropriate ways.
  • Maintain professional attitude and loyalty to the school.
  • Treat all students with dignity and respect.
  • Participate in professional workshops that work for the improvement of K-8 education.
  • Maintain confidentiality about studeents, their families, and other employees outside the school.
  • Help with the operations of audio/visual aids (projectors, etc.) if applicable.
  • Follow directions given by head teacher or immediate supervisor.
  • All other duties as assigned.
