About The Position

Jewish Baby University (JBU) was established in 1998 and serves as a cornerstone program for young Jewish families in Denver beginning their journeys into parenthood. Each JBU cohort typically consists of eight classes with as many as a dozen families. Classes are facilitated by a network of local experts and Rabbinic clergy. The Jewish Baby University Program Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of the JBU program, including but not limited to marketing, application and registration process, collecting payment, consolidating information for donors, booking space, ordering food, and coordinating with instructors. The JBU Program Coordinator will encourage JBU participants to continue their journey at the JCC through First 36 programs designed for families with a new child in their first 36 months of life. Evenings, weekends, and holiday hours will be required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of experience in community programs, engagement, events, outreach, and/or youth activities.
  • Strong understanding of pregnancy, childbirth, post-partum, infants, and the traditions and rituals connected to Jewish culture and religion for these stages of life and parenthood.
  • Ability to communicate and maintain a professional demeanor under stress.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service for all internal and external users, community members, non-profit representative/community partners, patrons, students, families, and clients.
  • Basic competency with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Great multitasker with an attention to detail, hard-working and self-motivated
  • Availability to work nights and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with young children and comfort in managing multiple age groups.
  • Associates Degree or higher in a related field.
  • Experience with community engagement, intergenerational engagement, LGBTQIA+ engagement, and/or event operations.
  • Understanding of the Jewish Community and its constituents.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of the Jewish Baby University (JBU) program at the JCC Denver including, but not limited to, booking instructors, coordinate with partnering organizations, and securing instructional space virtually and in person. This includes the JBU extension classes.
  • Manage application and registrations for all JBU applicants and participants.
  • Ensure strong and professional communication to JBU applicants, participants, instructors, partners, and alumni.
  • Encourage JBU participants and alumni to continue participation in programming at the JCC Denver.
  • Create and foster a welcoming and open environment for all JBU participants.
  • Work with the Director of Engagement of Judaic Programs to strategize the growth and content of the JBU program and all First 36 programs of the JCC Denver.
  • Providing a world-class experience and excellent customer service for all JCC and Mizel Arts and Culture Center users, members, patrons, and clients.
  • Ensuring JCC and Mizel policies and procedures and all relevant Federal, State, Local, and OSHA safety rules and regulations are followed.
  • Assisting, monitoring, and providing customer support for internal and external programming and events
  • Additional Engagement Department support as assigned
  • Occasionally serve as a substitute instructor for family engagement programs such as Practice Preschool, Baby and Toddler Art, Baby Supply Closet, Baby Café, Abbas and Babbas, Move and Learn classes.
  • Contribute to JCC Engagement Team brainstorm and whole department efforts for large events.
  • Serve as an ambassador of the JCC Denver at community partner events.
