About The Position

As a Live Show Production Technical Director at Jewelry Television, you will play a crucial role in a dynamic, live studio environment. This position involves executing live show content, leading the technical team, and ensuring seamless production operations. You will collaborate closely with the producing team and other directors, providing direction and feedback to enhance the quality of live broadcasts. This role requires strong leadership, technical skills, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Television or Mass Communications or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong listening and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lead and develop team members.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to partner and work effectively with colleagues.
  • Live television directing experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of production switchers including the ability to recall, use and create EMEMS, effects, and macros.
  • Excellent understanding of all job assignments within the TV Production reporting structure.
  • Ability to lift, pull, or push items over 25 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years of live television directing experience.
  • Experience with the Grass Valley Kayak switcher.
  • Experience with Ikegami camera operations and Panasonic PTZ camera operations.
  • Experience with Harris Nexio file systems.
  • Experience with Ross on-air graphics programs.
  • Experience with live music performances.

Responsibilities

  • Execute live show content as determined by the producing team during pre-production utilizing the Grass Valley Kayak Switcher.
  • Give direction to the live show team in all technical aspects of the show.
  • Complete pre-production tasks for assigned show blocks and assist other directors for their shows.
  • Follow up with crew and talent after show block to solicit and provide feedback.
  • Conduct self-reviews and production reviews with key members of staff.
  • Determine blocking for cameras on set prior to show, working in conjunction with the lighting and backgrounds.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
