About The Position

The Jet Pump Optimization and Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing hydraulic jet pump systems across the production asset. This role ensures efficient artificial lift performance by diagnosing both downhole and surface-related issues, performing mechanical repairs, monitoring system parameters, and collaborating with Optimization Technicians and Engineers to maximize production while minimizing LOE.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hydraulic systems and jet pump operation.
  • Knowledge of artificial lift fundamentals and production optimization techniques.
  • Ability to interpret SCADA data, pressure charts, and performance curves.
  • Familiarity with WellView, or equivalent optimization software.
  • Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, mechanical schematics, and vendor manuals.
  • Skilled in the use of diagnostic tools (SKF laser alignment, vibration sensor, pressure gauges, torque wrenches).
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Technical or Mechanical Certification preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in jet pump operations, artificial lift optimization, or hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in outdoor conditions, and travel between well sites daily.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with Tally, Liberty Lift, or Weatherford, Plunger, Diaphragm, H pumps systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Optimization & Performance Monitoring Conduct daily optimization reviews on active jet pump wells using SCADA and field readings. Analyze suction/discharge pressures, flow rates, and pump differentials to identify inefficiencies or declining performance trends. Adjust choke settings, nozzle/throat configurations, and tank pressures to achieve target drawdown and production. Record and report runtime efficiency, pump intake conditions, and lift cost performance metrics.
  • Mechanical Maintenance & Repair Oversee/Conduct teardown, inspection, and rebuild of jet pump surface power ends (Tally, Weatherford, Liberty Lift, etc.). Perform troubleshooting on hydraulic power fluid systems, including filters, valves, fittings, and seals. Conduct oil sampling, fluid flushing, and preventive maintenance on power ends and gear reducers. Replace worn or damaged components (pistons, plungers, valves, packings, 501seals) to maintain mechanical integrity and prevent unplanned downtime. Ensure alignment and proper coupling between motor, VFD, and power end using laser alignment tools.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics Perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA) on failed pumps and surface systems. Utilize pressure transducers, vibration analysis, and thermal trends to pinpoint system faults. Verify suction header integrity and fluid return path during system startup and troubleshooting. Document all findings and corrective actions in maintenance management system (LOE Tracker or WellView).
  • System Start-Up and Commissioning Support the installation and commissioning of new jet pump systems. Function tests all instrumentation (pressure transducers, flow meters, temperature sensors) during start up. Validate pump sizing, nozzle/throat configurations, and operating setpoints to ensure proper system configuration prior to handover.
  • Safety, Compliance & Continuous Improvement Perform all work in compliance with Crescent Energy’s safety standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Maintain accurate mechanical service logs and optimization data sheets. Participate in monthly safety meetings and equipment inspections, and field audits. Identify cost-reduction opportunities, reliability improvements, and enhancements to Jet Pump operating strategies.
