Jerome Home is hiring a second RN Nursing Supervisor for the 3p-11p shift. The primary purpose of this position is to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility during the assigned tour of duty, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The Nurse Supervisor will work under the direction of the Director of Nursing and the Assistant Director of Nursing, responding to departmental issues requiring managerial intervention during weekends, holidays, and off-shifts in the absence of regular department supervisors.

  • Assist the Director of Nursing in directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing activities.
  • Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating written policies and procedures for the nursing service department.
  • Ensure that reference material at the nurses' stations is current.
  • Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director as necessary.
  • Assist in developing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and JCAHO standards.
  • Participate in surveys made by authorized agencies.
  • Assist in planning the nursing services portion of the resident's discharge plans.
  • Complete accident/incident reports.
  • Review daily staffing for sufficient staff and make changes as needed.
  • Ensure that a sufficient number of licensed staff and certified nursing assistants are available.
  • Develop work assignments for charge nurses and CNAs.
  • Make daily rounds of the nursing service department.
  • Review complaints and grievances made by department personnel.
  • Participate in developing, planning, conducting, and scheduling in-service training classes.
  • Assist in developing safety standards for the nursing service department.
  • Ensure that nursing service personnel follow established infection control procedures.
  • Participate in the development of preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the nursing needs of each resident.
  • Must be a graduate of an approved RN program.
  • 1 year of experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related healthcare facility is preferred.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in this state.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
  • Experience in a supervisory role within a nursing environment.
  • Certification in CPR and emergency medical treatment.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures.
