About The Position

The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Experienced/Senior Java Software Engineer – Developer to support our Advanced Ground Architecture team located in Herndon, Virginia, Mesa, Arizona, and Seal Beach, California. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization. This position requires an Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance. The Advanced Ground Architecture (AGA) software team is a dynamic group of software engineers creating the future of Ground support with the extensibility and adaptability to be used across ALL Boeing programs. The software team is executing this vision through modern software technologies (Java, ReactJS, python, CI/CD pipelines) and methodologies (Scaled Agile). AGA is looking for self-motivated high performers to execute the large scope of Java development needed for the program's vision. The 5+ years of planned work will also provide stability and plenty of opportunities for leadership. The ideal candidates will provide software engineering functions for the design, development, and maintenance of complex, multi-tiered application software systems used to support the command and control of space vehicles. The software engineers will work day-to-day with system and test engineers in order to implement, test, and document new features and improvements for both web services and applications supporting distributed computing solutions. Develop software in conjunction with agile team leadership including participation at agile events. Assist in the execution of DevSecOps processes in order to deliver software baseline on sprint boundaries. Participate in PI planning as an agile team member. Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree
• This position requires an Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
• 3+ years of experience in Java, React
• 3+ years of experience in Windows-based IDEs and Linux-based IDEs
• 3+ years of experience with software configuration management tools (e.g. Git) and problem/issue tracking tools (e.g. Jira)
• 3+ years of experience developing software products in a cloud environment
• 2+ years of experience in using Agile methodologies

• Level 3: 3 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Level 4: 5 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5+ years of experience in Java, React
• 5+ years of experience in Window, Linux, and AWS environments
• 5+ years of experience in Windows-based IDEs, Linux-based IDEs, Maven, Git, Gitlab
• 2+ years of experience using Agile methodologies and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, BitBucket)
• 2+ years of experience writing unit tests (Junit/Mockito Testing)
• 2+ years of experience with Spring Boot, NoSQL Databases (specifically MongoDB), REST API integration, and Kubernetes with Helm
• Experience implementing algorithms involving orbital mechanics, coordinate transforms, etc.
• Experience working with distributed teams
• Knowledge of software programming languages and databases and the ability to apply to the software domain. Programming languages encompass higher order languages and auto-coded languages.
• Knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies. Ability to synthesize software architectures and designs that meet requirements, characteristics and constraints.
• Knowledge of general and software development and testing tools, capability and usage. Examples include compilers, linkers, debuggers, data analysis tools, graphical user interface builders, post processing tools, requirements management tools, and web authoring tools.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, tests, and maintains software in an Agile execution that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards throughout the end-to-end lifecycle
• Reviews, analyzes, and translates customer requirements into initial design and software products
• Develops, maintains, and enhances software products & features for system integrations
• Documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software products
• Debugs and resolves issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products
• Interfaces with the user community to troubleshoot technical issues, seek user feedback, and develop future design concepts
• Implements current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development
• Develops, establishes, monitors, and improves software processes, tools, and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks
• Advises on software domains, system-specific issues, processes, and regulations
