About The Position

As a Java Engineer in the Global Merchant Services Technology (GMST) team at American Express, you will play a crucial role in building and enhancing the core features and functions of our card transaction systems. This position involves working on a distributed platform deployed in the cloud, where you will actively participate in agile teams and utilize the latest development practices. Your responsibilities will include writing code and unit tests, working with API specifications, and implementing automation processes. The GMST team is dedicated to driving innovation through the use of Java technologies, and you will have the opportunity to explore and adopt new technologies to improve our systems and processes. The GMST organization is on an exciting journey to redefine the merchant payment experience, with a focus on creating a distributed, near real-time, low-latency system that is always available and highly resilient. This system processes transactions from around the world 24/7, 365 days a year. As part of this team, you will be encouraged to challenge the status quo and contribute to continuous innovation.
