About the position

The Java Embedded Software Engineer at SYNTECH Systems Inc. is responsible for developing high-performance applications and solutions in the fuels management, automotive, and telematics sectors. This role involves working on embedded Linux-based platforms and contributing to both embedded software applications and web-based enterprise front-end software as a full-stack developer.

Responsibilities

• Design and enhance embedded software applications and products for fuel management systems.
• Deploy software solutions on hardware that interacts with humans and other devices.
• Utilize Java in conjunction with OSGi as the modular framework.
• Customize solutions to function within the embedded Linux context.
• Devise new approaches to solve embedded technical problems.
• Provide effective documentation including design documents, code comments, and project specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• In-depth knowledge of Core Java is required.
• Experience with advanced Java 8 constructs and Java concurrency, including writing and maintaining multithreaded Java code.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the telematics or automotive space.
• Familiarity with Java 17.
• Knowledge of Linux or similar operating systems.
• Experience with C/C++, Python, and Shell scripting.
• Familiarity with OSGi and Yocto.
• Experience working within an Agile/SCRUM context.
• Front-end development experience using Angular.
• Experience with source code control tools, such as git.
• Mobile development experience in any language.
• Knowledge of Spring and Spring Boot.
• Experience with device connectivity and low-level programming.
