About The Position

Under the direction of the Japantown Cultural District Visitor Center Director, the Japantown Navigators Supervisor will supervise, coach, and mentor San Francisco high school or college students or seniors/retirees in the Japantown Navigators 2026 Cohort (a paid opportunity), and coordinate guest speakers and presenters as part of the curriculum. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional administrative professional who is highly organized, has mentorship experience, possesses advanced digital media skills, and is a strong communicator, both written and verbal. This position will report to the Executive Director.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in working with youth, especially high school and/or college students OR with seniors/retirees. Work experience in underserved communities is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience directly relevant to the position.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google tools
  • (Calendar, Drive, Doc, Sheets, Slides).
  • Solid written and oral communication skills.
  • Comfortable with quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Ability to develop work plans, organize details, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to be flexible in rapidly changing work contexts.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to racial, ethnic, social, and economic diversity.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, coach Navigators cohort members at the Japantown Cultural District Visitor Center, located in the Japan Center EAST Mall.
  • Manage scheduling for cohort members during operational days.
  • Conduct virtual and text-based check-ins with cohort members.
  • Develop training activities for cohort members, including scheduling of guest speakers.
  • Complete weekly program reporting.
