About The Position

An I79 Welcome Center Worker performs custodial and maintenance operations for the purpose of maintaining the WV Welcome Center in a safe, attractive, clean, sanitary, and operable manner. Areas maintained are: rest area service buildings, inside/outside of utility storage buildings, vending buildings, information shelters, on-site water and sewage disposal systems, grounds and parking areas.

Requirements

  • Able to work independently after a short training period
  • Able to operate a utility vehicle such as a gator
  • Able to use basic custodial and grounds maintenance tools such as a mop, broom, mowers and blowers, janitorial cart, vacuum cleaner, snow shovel, street broom
  • Lifting/Carrying: up to 50lbs. Objects may be filled mop buckets, large trash bags, boxed supplies
  • Pushing/Pulling objects such as snow shovels, brooms and mops, mowers
  • Able to mix and use standard cleaning chemicals such as bleach and other sanitizers
  • Experience using a variety of tools to mow and trim grass and knowledge of how to do so in suboptimal conditions
  • Able to work any of the three work shifts with short notice: 8:00am – 4:00pm, 4:00pm – 12:00am, 12:00am – 8:00am
  • Reliable transportation to/from the work site

Responsibilities

  • Participate in training in grounds maintenance safety protocols required, including proper use of PPE
  • Recognize and report potential safety hazards as trained
  • Clean/sanitize public restrooms according to the given procedures and schedules
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance at all times; wear the PACE uniform
  • Provide information to motorists such as directions, how to get emergency assistance, locations of service stations.
  • Adhere to all policies such as the smoking policy and call-off policy
