About The Position

We are seeking dependable, hardworking individuals to join our custodial crew. This role is essential to maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and polished appearance of our restaurant properties. Essence Hospitality Group proudly owns and operates three acclaimed Grand Rapids restaurants — Bistro Bella Vita, grove, and Lucy’s — each known for exceptional food and a welcoming atmosphere. As a first-shift custodial team member, you will work alongside a supportive crew to ensure every space is spotless and guest-ready. Our goal is simple: to maintain the cleanest, most inviting restaurants in town.

Requirements

Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred, but not required — we will train the right person
Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, bending, and lifting up to 50+ lbs
Strong attention to detail and self-motivation — able to work independently and as part of a team
Flexible availability, including weekends (Sundays are a must), occasional evenings and holidays
Valid driver’s license preferred (some travel between locations may be required)

Responsibilities

Clean and sanitize dining rooms, restrooms, and other guest-facing areas to company standards
Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in both front-of-house and designated back-of-house areas
Restock restroom and cleaning supplies as needed
Perform light exterior cleaning, including entryways, sidewalks, and doorways
Assist with quarterly deep cleaning of kitchens, storage areas, and other back-of-house spaces
Follow safety procedures and proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
