About The Position

Owens Corning, global in scope - human in scale. We're an international company, with solid roots in Lake Charles, and we've got opportunities for a few dynamic people to join our local team. The Facilities Janitorial position is responsible for the sanitation/housekeeping of the manufacturing plant and offices. This position will be responsible for functions including but not limited to: General cleaning of the building and keeping it maintained and in good condition, vacuuming, picking up debris, mopping, sanitizing restrooms, taking out trash, recycling, washing and cleaning windows and mirrors. Requirements

  • Able to lift at least 40 lbs.
  • Available to work overtime M-F and on weekends as needed
  • Able to climb a ladder and work in high areas
  • Possess the flexibility to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Able to schedule and manage own workload
  • Able to work accurately, and thoroughly to meet deadlines
  • Able to learn how and successfully operate a forklift as needed
  • Preferably one year experience in janitorial duties
  • HS Diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred
  • Able to take and pass a pre-employment background and drug screening
  • Able to speak and read English at a basic level
  • Able to safely use cleaning chemicals and janitorial equipment
  • Commitment to the team, self-motivation, and accountable for safety & quality.
  • Forklift certified

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Safety Coordinator to maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Maintain overall cleanliness of the building including but not limited to office areas, production area, and property outside of facility; through standard cleaning methodologies
  • Ensure restrooms and breakroom areas are cleaned and well stocked
  • Collect, remove and dispose of trash appropriately; including handling a limited amount of hazardous materials (light bulbs)
  • Spearhead facility recycling program
  • Other duties as assigned
