About The Position

The Union Janitor at Marysville PDC plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all employees and visitors. This position ensures that all assigned areas, including offices, restrooms, hallways, and common spaces, are thoroughly cleaned and well-maintained according to union standards and facility guidelines. The janitor will be responsible for performing routine cleaning tasks as well as addressing any immediate sanitation needs that arise throughout the workday. This role contributes directly to the overall health and safety of the workplace by adhering to proper cleaning protocols and using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment. Ultimately, the Union Janitor supports operational efficiency by creating a hygienic and orderly environment that reflects the professionalism of the Marysville PDC facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Physical capability to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in occupational safety or cleaning best practices.
  • Experience working in a large industrial or distribution center setting.
  • Familiarity with union work rules and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Ability to operate floor cleaning machines and other specialized janitorial equipment.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal in all designated areas.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including replenishing supplies and ensuring fixtures are in good working order.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and report any maintenance or repair needs promptly to supervisors.
  • Follow all safety and health regulations, including proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
  • Collaborate with other janitorial staff and facility management to ensure cleaning schedules and standards are consistently met.
