The Janitor cleans and keeps in an orderly condition factory working areas and washrooms, or premises of an office, commercial or other establishment. Duties involve a combination of the following: Sweeping, mopping or scrubbing, and polishing floors; removing chips, trash, and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms. Primary Duties Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review. Maintains building interior by dusting and polishing furniture, equipment, mirrors, and fixtures; washing windows, counters, walls, ceilings, and woodwork; sweeping, scrubbing, and waxing floors; cleaning and vacuuming drapes, furniture, and carpeting including carpet scrubbing; resupplying rest rooms; replacing light bulbs. Maintains building accessibility and appearance by picking up papers and trash, replacing light bulbs. Removes trash by emptying trash containers; transporting materials to disposal area; collecting recycling materials. Keeps cleaning equipment operational by following manufacturer's operating and care guidelines, completing operator repairs and parts replacement. Maintains parts and equipment inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed parts; anticipating cleaning equipment replacement; placing orders. Additional Responsibilities Maintains safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED).
  • At least one (1) year custodial experience.
  • Ability to understand and follow direction.
  • Knowledge of various cleaning products and when to use them.
  • Must have good oral/verbal communication skills.
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal safety and environmental codes, ordinances, standards and laws.
  • Adhere to all corporate and local safety plans, policies, practices and standards.
  • Be aware of and follow all safety rules of your work site.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or accidents to your supervisor.
  • Practice standard precautions (formerly universal precautions) always.
  • Participate in mandatory or available safety training.
