About The Position

The Maintenance/Janitor (Unskilled) position is responsible for performing janitorial/maintenance duties within the Oakland Arena-Alameda County Coliseum. This includes routine tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, sinks, countertops, and refrigerators, as well as dusting and cleaning interior windowsills and windows. The role also involves emptying trash, replacing liners, cleaning receptacles, and recycling as instructed. The individual will use industrial chemicals and equipment to clean various surfaces, ensuring all assigned work is completed satisfactorily and within the allotted time. Adherence to AEG policies, sustainability initiatives, and ASM/OCJV/CalOSHA safety policies is required. The position demands the ability to work irregular and extended hours, including nights (graveyard shifts), weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• A minimum education level of: High School Diploma or its equivalent
• A minimum of 1-2 years of related work experience
• Basic knowledge of cleaning products and proper cleaning techniques, or willing to learn
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English and prioritize multiple tasks
• Ability to lift and/or carry items of varying weight up to and including 100 pounds
• Physical demands: heavy lifting, climbing, carrying, stooping, crawling and equipment operation
• Must be able to work indoors and outdoors; subject to adverse conditions

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance duties as assigned (vacuum, sweep, mop floors, clean/sanitation bathrooms, sinks, counter tops and refrigerators; dust and clean interior windowsills/windows and any other areas in need of cleaning)
• Empty trash cans, replace liners and clean receptacles; recycle as instructed
• Use industrial chemical and equipment to clean a variety of surfaces
• Finish all assigned work within allotted time and in a satisfactory manner
• Responsible for notifying leads and/or supervisors of all cleaning tasks neglected
• Leave all work areas clean and in order
• Adhere to AEG policies and procedures including company wide sustainability initiatives
• Maintain compliance with all ASM/OCJV/CalOSHA safety policies and procedures
• Ability to work irregular extended hours -- includes nights (graveyard shifts), weekends, and holidays
