About The Position

The Janitorial Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily cleaning and sanitation operations of the facility while supporting the Facilities Manager in maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment. This position supervises the janitorial team, ensures cleaning standards are met, and helps coordinate schedules, supplies, and quality control. The Janitorial Lead works hands-on with the team while also providing leadership, training, and accountability to ensure all areas of the facility meet operational and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Prior janitorial or custodial experience required
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to manage a small team and maintain high cleaning standards
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs and perform physical tasks
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible schedules

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership
  • Supervise and support janitorial staff during daily operations
  • Assign cleaning zones and responsibilities for each shift
  • Train new janitorial employees on procedures, safety, and equipment use
  • Monitor staff performance and report concerns to the Facilities Manager
  • Maintain team accountability and productivity
  • Cleaning & Sanitation
  • Ensure all facility areas are cleaned and sanitized according to company standards
  • Perform routine cleaning duties including floors, restrooms, trash removal, and common areas
  • Maintain cleanliness in high-traffic areas throughout operating hours
  • Respond quickly to spills, hazards, or sanitation issues
  • Quality Control
  • Conduct inspections of janitorial work areas to ensure cleanliness standards are met
  • Identify areas needing improvement and correct issues promptly
  • Report maintenance issues or facility concerns to the Facilities Manager
  • Inventory & Supplies
  • Monitor janitorial supply levels and notify management when restocking is needed
  • Ensure proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment
  • Help maintain organization of janitorial closets and equipment areas
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all safety procedures and proper chemical handling protocols
  • Ensure staff uses personal protective equipment when required
  • Maintain safe working conditions for employees and guests
