About The Position

Responsible for performing a variety of cleaning, sanitizing, and other janitorial tasks throughout County buildings and facilities with minimal supervision. Assists in training departmental staff to maintain consistent cleaning standards. Responsible for frequent lifting and moving heavy objects, climbing, reaching, and occasional outdoor assignments to support facility upkeep.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of work experience performing cleaning duties is required.
  • This position is considered a safety-sensitive position. Candidates who are selected to fill safety-sensitive positions must pass a required drug test as part of the pre-employment background check process.
  • Candidates who are contacted will be required to produce original required documents (e.g., current driver’s license, diploma, school transcript, certifications, etc.) listed on the Notice of Job Opportunity within five (5) days of being extended an offer, in writing, by the Bureau Chief of BHR (or designee). Candidates will be notified of how to submit required documents.
  • Degrees awarded outside of the United States with the exception of those awarded in one of the United States territories and Canada, must be credentialed by the World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or a National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES) member organization.
  • Knowledge of facilities cleaning methods and types of cleaners to be used on various materials and surfaces.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to use brooms, mops, electric floor waxers, and other hand and power-driven cleaning/polishing equipment.
  • Ability to perform strenuous work, which includes but is not limited to moving and lifting furniture, equipment, and operating power waxers, etc.
  • Ability to function independently in maintaining high standards of cleanliness in assigned work sites.
  • Proficiency in caring for assigned tools and materials, economical use of all soaps, powders, waxes, and other custodial supplies.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, and learn routine repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to exercise safety and care in cleaning to avoid injuries, breakage, or destruction of property.
  • Very Heavy Work involves exerting 100 pounds of force occasionally, or an excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
