About The Position

Cleans and maintains CERL office building to ensure a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean environment for all agency constituents.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• At least one year of previous maintenance experience preferred
• Dependability, cooperation, and ability to work independently required
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and operate equipment required
• Commitment to our mission of providing opportunities for people who are blind, visually impaired, deaf-blind, or multi-disabled is essential

Responsibilities

• Completes assigned daily work schedule as prepared by supervisor
• Sweeps, mops, and waxes floors
• Vacuums carpets thoroughly up to baseboards to be free of dust, dirt and particles
• Washes windows, interior and exterior, and cleans blinds as scheduled
• Maintains washrooms and locker rooms, de-scale toilet bowls and urinals, maintain floors sweep and damp mop, sanitizing all surfaces and keeping supplies stocked
• Keeps kitchen and cafeteria areas clean and stocked
• Cleans all drinking fountains so that they are free from spots, stains, smudges or streaks
• Picks up trash from offices, cleans cans as necessary, and provides fresh supplies of bags
• Removes trash and breaks down boxes and disposes of debris properly
• Uses provided equipment properly and safely, including industrial vacuum cleaner, floor scrubber, polisher, floor sweeper, and all tools needed for assigned tasks
• Adjusts hours, as needed, to assist with special projects and events
• Performs all duties with an attitude of safety and consideration displayed by all employees of The Chicago Lighthouse
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
