About the position

A day in the life of a Manager, Supply and Demand Planning at JanSport involves overall ownership of all demand planning related activities, focusing on driving consolidation in the Americas and through all markets. Responsibilities include developing the season demand picture from the proto stage to GTM, creating the wholesale monthly financial ship forecast, and ensuring transparent communication and alignment across the supply chain. The manager will work with cross-functional teams to develop the brand's forecasting strategic direction and manage the health of the three-year planning process. On the supply side, the manager oversees a team responsible for procuring supply to meet service and inventory objectives, ensuring on-time deliveries from vendors and customers, and leading the execution of the Inventory Plan.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the Americas forecast to meet sales, customer service, inventory, and profit goals.
  • Understand historical demand and future growth strategies to build financial forecasts.
  • Include non-Americas regional input into the global demand plan.
  • Create and lead the three-year strategic demand planning process.
  • Develop the strategic direction of the Americas demand planning group.
  • Develop seasonal forecasting process in partnership with product merchandising.
  • Lead Packs Americas S&OP process to align tactical execution for all business functions.
  • Develop and drive execution of financial ship forecasts.
  • Partner closely with Supply Planning, Merchandising, and Sales to manage risk.
  • Ensure procedures and processes are executed to meet goals.
  • Provide leadership for all systems development relating to demand planning.
  • Lead the creation of the global buy calendar and process.
  • Manage team that recommends and executes buys based on demand inputs.
  • Partner with Sourcing and vendors to build the production plan.
  • Monitor demand needs and supply timing to identify issues and opportunities.
  • Manage approvals and reporting for air requests.
  • Track and report key KPIs that measure performance.
  • Build annual Inventory Plan to support seasonal startups and service goals.
  • Drive longer-term view of supply availability considering demand needs.
  • Lead key projects to evolve supply chain capabilities.
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in supply and demand planning.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships.
  • Ability to manage a diverse group of individuals and lead change.
  • Ability to determine best practices and implement them.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to leverage technology and systems for reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, macros).
  • Experience in a multi-channel environment (wholesale and direct to consumer).
  • Experience building and managing high performing demand planning teams.
  • Strong end-to-end knowledge of supply chains.
  • Experience in business process reengineering and project management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred concentration in Engineering, Mathematics, or Business).
  • Working knowledge of demand planning tools (Logility and SAP ERP).
  • APICS or Six-Sigma Certifications.
