About The Position

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office is accepting internal and external applications for the position of Jail Lieutenant. This position supervises the processing of inmates at the Liberty County Jail.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
  • Must possess Jailer or Correctional Officer Certification through Georgia P.O.S.T.

Responsibilities

  • Processes inmates entering and leaving the facility.
  • Maintains accurate logs of inmate personal property and of jail property assigned to inmates.
  • Maintains accurate logs of all booking activities and security equipment.
  • Maintains and monitor security points.
  • Prepares incident reports.
  • Obtains and prints inmate fingerprints and submits to national database.
  • Receive bail and bond monies; enters monies to inmate accounts.
  • Monitors inmate safety and security.
  • Administers first-aid as needed.
  • Searches inmates to locate contraband.
  • Maintains accurate records of all funds and medications entering the jail.
  • Maintains accurate count of inmates.
  • Supervises the feeding of inmates.
  • Operates security doors.
  • Supervises the administration of medication to inmates.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
