About The Position

The Master Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Technician is a technical authority and leader responsible for the most complex diagnostics, repairs, calibrations, and system integrations on autonomous vehicles. This role oversees technical strategy for fleet operations, drives innovation in AV maintenance and testing, and provides mentorship to Senior and Advanced AV Technicians. The Master AV Technician collaborates closely with engineering, operations, safety, and product teams to ensure fleet reliability, safety, and operational excellence. Requirements

  • Jaguar I-PACE Technician experience
  • Ability to perform Warranty work
  • 7+ years of experience as an automotive, EV, robotics, or Autonomous Vehicle technician, with progressive leadership responsibility.
  • Master-level diagnostic expertise in mechanical, electrical, high-voltage, and AV-specific systems.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with sensor systems (LiDAR, radar, cameras), computer hardware, and networked AV components.
  • Proficiency with advanced diagnostic software, CAN/LIN analysis tools, and electrical testing equipment.
  • Ability to interpret complex schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
  • Proven experience mentoring, leading, or managing technical teams.
  • Ability to lift 50–75 lbs, work under vehicles, and operate in diverse field environments.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • ASE Master Technician certification, EV/Hybrid certification, or OEM factory training, Must Have
  • Advanced high-voltage systems experience (HV safety certification), Must Have

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Linux command line, scripting, and diagnostic automation.
  • Prior experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, advanced ADAS, or mobility technology.
  • Experience driving fleet-wide technical initiatives, standardization, or operational optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Expert Diagnostics & Repair Lead and perform the most complex mechanical, electrical, and high voltage troubleshooting across Autonomous Vehicle systems, powertrain, braking, suspension, and computer hardware.
  • Develop root-cause analysis for recurring system failures and implement long-term solutions.
  • Author and maintain advanced diagnostic procedures, workflows, and best practices for the AV technician team.
  • Advanced Sensor & System Calibration Oversee calibrations and verification of LiDAR, radar, camera arrays, GPS units, IMUs, and perception systems.
  • Validate fleet-wide sensor performance and certify AV systems for operational deployment.
  • Lead integration and testing of next-generation sensor platforms or experimental hardware.
  • Autonomous Vehicle Hardware & Software Expertise Install, configure, and optimize complex AV components, including compute modules, communication units, and networked systems.
  • Guide engineering teams on firmware updates, software deployment, and vehicle data analysis.
  • Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations for adoption across the fleet.
  • Fleet Operations & Strategic Support Serve as the escalation point for technical issues, field incidents, and vehicle recoveries.
  • Lead technical response during high-stakes AV testing or operational events.
  • Partner with operations and engineering teams to develop fleet-wide maintenance strategies.
  • Leadership, Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing Mentor and coach Advanced and Senior AV Technicians to build team expertise and technical capacity.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise in cross-functional discussions on AV design, safety, and operations.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and technical projects impacting fleet performance and safety.
  • Develop and deliver training programs, documentation, and standard operating procedures for AV technical teams.
  • Documentation & Continuous Improvement Maintain comprehensive, fleet-wide records of diagnostics, repairs, calibrations, and testing outcomes.
  • Identify systemic trends and recommend design or process improvements to engineering and operations teams.
  • Serve as a key contributor to strategic fleet initiatives and technical standards.
