About The Position

The JAG Specialist at Tipton High School is responsible for identifying, recruiting, and instructing students facing challenges in academic promotion and career transitions. This role involves implementing the JAG Model, ensuring students achieve specific competencies, and fostering relationships with school personnel and the community to support student success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social service, counseling, business, education, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Experience working with youth and knowledge of adolescent development issues.
  • Skills in human relations, leadership, supervision, and motivational techniques.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to develop curriculum and educational opportunities consistent with the JAG model.
  • Working knowledge of basic computer applications and an Internet browser.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including students, parents, and community organizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in public relations or community outreach activities.
  • Knowledge of resume preparation and interviewing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide appropriate curriculum and ensure students achieve specific JAG competencies through classroom instruction.
  • Tailor the program and teaching methods for the needs of each specific student, implementing intervention strategies using Individualized Development Plans.
  • Recruit students directly and obtain referrals from an in-school Advisory Committee.
  • Administer testing programs including JAG pre-/post-tests and career interest surveys.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with school personnel, students, and community members to advocate for the JAG program.
  • Organize and serve as advisor to a JAG Career Association chapter, promoting teamwork and community service.
  • Provide guidance, counseling, and support to students, referring them to additional services as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with JAG and WIA documentation requirements, including daily data entry into the e-NDMS system.
  • Assist students in finding and maintaining quality employment or educational programs post-graduation.
  • Participate in staff development activities and complete special projects as assigned.
