About The Position

Adjunct Faculty positions are part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the college. Major Responsibilities: ● Deliver non-credit Catapult Indiana Training course as assigned. ● Instruct class at designated location in Elkhart, to meet specific training and skillset objectives to high schoolers/recent high school graduates. ● Deliver instruction on a 10-week, half-day schedule, approximately 160 hrs. ● Teach directly from Catapult Instructional materials designed for this course. ● Use equipment provided exclusively for the Catapult training, which will be provided. ● Maintain records on student attendance, progress, and skills mastery. ● Participate in training and professional development as needed. ● Teaching load is dictated by project, or projects, not by credit hour. ● The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Minimum Qualifications: ● Must have expertise in Advanced Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing, and the 5S Process, with the ability to convey knowledge through hands-on instruction. ● Must demonstrate competency with Safety protocols, and Quality-Cost impact; as well as with OSHA and environmental awareness. ● Must have a comprehensive understanding of the Kaizen methodology: Continuous Improvement, Problem Solving, Improvement Implementation, Waste Reduction, Scale Solutions, Repeat cycles, etc. ● Experience in assembly line production, preferably related to the automotive industry. ● Has an understanding of Supply Chain/Logistics, related to supporting a Just-In-Time production line or assembly line. ● Able to give hands-on instruction in a simulation lab, including the fundamental use of small hand tools and manufacturing parts, using a moving conveyer, and employee conditioning and injury prevention. ● Instruct students in the use of blueprints, technical drawings, measurement skills with micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc. Compensation: $50/contract hour Other Requirements: ● Selected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome. ● Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Operations Management, Logistics Management, or similar; and over five years of experience in Management at a manufacturing facility. ● Conducts all activities with appreciation and respect for the diversity of people, styles, and culture.
