IV Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician
About The Position
Sentara is hiring a Sterile Compounding IV Pharmacy Technician for our Home Infusion Pharmacy Team Location: Chesapeake, Home Care Status: Full Time (40 hrs/wk) Shift: Rotating - 8 hour shifts Hours: 7am-7pm Weekend: Every 5th Saturday & On Call Friday-Monday Holiday : On Call Rotation The IV Pharmacy Tech II performs the technician responsibilities of clinical pharmacy care delivery under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. Requirements
- A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
- CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB (Required)
- 2 Years Pharmacy Experience (Required)
Nice To Haves
- 1 Year Home Infusion, IV, or Sterile Compounding Experience (Preferred)
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently defined areas of pharmacy practice competently
- Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced clinical job positions
- Participates in the training of new employees
- Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
- Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
- Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
- Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
- Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
- Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
- Participates in clinical initiatives to continuously improve patient care
- Training in an advanced Clinical Pharmacy Technician job function
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned
