About The Position

Working as part of the patient care team within the staff model clinic, the RN will provide services which may or may not require licensed staff to render within the scope of practice; these services may include infusion, medication administration, patient education and wound management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Assist patients to exam rooms and obtain complete and accurate vital signs. Obtain and document all pertinent information in patient’s charts. Anticipate, assist and perform procedures ordered by the phone. Maintain timely patient flow and room availability. Maintain patient safety and confidentiality. Reinforce patient education and participate in patient teaching. Stock and maintain exam rooms, nursing stations and individual workstations. Participate in unit duties such as cleaning and sterilizing instruments and ordering supplies. Maintain a current, accurate surgical log, procedure log, lab log and patient tickler files, as appropriate. Maintain and monitor all equipment used for patient care and testing. Report any discrepancy to supervisor. Assist with training and orientation of new personnel. Actively participate in nursing QI by identifying problems, providing solutions and evaluating outcome. Ensure appropriate handling and accurate documentation of all medications ordered by the provider. Knowledgeable with referral system and ensures accurate and timely follow through with all referrals generated. Universal precautions utilized in all patient care. Perform general front office duties such as: Greets visitors, patients and guests Answers phones Schedules patient appointments Calls patients to confirm upcoming appointments Follow up calls per physician’s order- patient call reminders for no show Checks insurance eligibility prior to new patient visit Collects payments and co-pays Reconciles end of shift cash/check/credit card payments Collects fee tickets/reconciles with arrived appointments Reviews fee tickets for completeness of documentation/coding Prepares fee tickets, payments to send to billing service Assembles new patient charts, packets Copies charts, forms & documents as needed Copies chart notes for billing Completes all front desk necessary paperwork (makes labels, maintains patient demographics, takes phone messages, generates receipts for payment, produces patient letters, faxes documents, other duties as needed) Answers and addresses patient inquiries, questions and concerns Processes office mail (opens and distributes) Pulls charts (optional – may be delegated to MA/other office staff) Orders front office supplies as delegated Perform services which require the skills and licensure of a Registered Nurse Participate in the planning and development of programs for infusion, wound care, education, etc. Provide some oversight with the Back Office Supervisor and Office Manager of the Medical Office Staff Primary responsibility for initiating and maintaining peripheral lines, administering medications, maintaining and ordering of medications and supplies for infusion services Assist with in office procedures and surgeries Assist with training and oversight of the Medical Assistants and regulatory compliance All other duties as directed by management.

Requirements

  • Valid, unrestricted Registered Nurse License in the State of CA.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • 3 years hospital, medical office, infusion center experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Managed Care experience a plus.
