About The Position

Sentara is hiring a Full-time IV Pharmacy Technician for the Home Infusion Pharmacy in Charlottesville, VA. Location: Sentara Home Care Services- Charlottesville, VA Status: Full Time (40 hrs/wk) Shift: Days, Monday-Friday Hours: 8am-430pm Overview Visit the Sentara Infusion services website here: Sentara Pharmacy and Infusion Services The IV Pharmacy Tech II performs the technician responsibilities of clinical home infusion pharmacy care delivery under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.

Requirements

  • A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
  • CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB (Required)
  • 2 Years Pharmacy Experience (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • 1 Year IV or Sterile Compounding Experience (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently defined areas of pharmacy practice competently
  • Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced clinical job positions
  • Participates in the training of new employees
  • Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
  • Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
  • Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
  • Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
  • Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
  • Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
  • Participates in clinical initiatives to continuously improve patient care
  • Training in an advanced Clinical Pharmacy Technician job function
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned
