About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a dedicated individual to provide service support within the medical center. This role is essential in maintaining the proper environment for the medical center to perform its services to the community and support building systems. The position requires backfilling for the duties of the Refrigeration Mechanic A as needed, ensuring uninterrupted services to a diverse customer base, including a trauma medical center and research and teaching facilities. Compliance with safety regulations and policies is paramount.

Requirements

• High school education and 4-6 years experience as a building HVAC and controls mechanic.
• Experience in an electrical/mechanical trade education or related environment.
• Ability to read and write English and make mathematical calculations.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations.

• Associate's degree in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

• Provides service support to the customer base within the medical center.
• Maintains the proper environment to ensure the medical center can perform its service to the community.
• Backfills for the duties of the Refrigeration Mechanic A as required.
• Maintains uninterrupted services to a diverse customer base including a trauma medical center.
• Complies with safety regulations and policies of the University of Rochester and all local, state, and federal agencies.
• Performs service calls, work orders, preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and reconditioning work.
• Disassembles, inspects, and examines system components to detect malfunctions.
• Has functional working knowledge of Building Automation Systems and related HVAC equipment.
• Troubleshoots HVAC and mechanical systems and performs root cause analysis.
• Solders, brazes, and welds various materials.
• Acts as an instructor and troubleshooter, leading by example.
• Investigates shutdowns and documents results.
• Works with trades and outside contractors to maintain quality and cost.
