About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an ITS/Traffic Engineer to join our NC ITS/Traffic Team. This is an entry-level position and is based out of Raleigh, NC. AtkinsRéalis is one of the world's most respected design, engineering, and project management consultancies. We have been providing infrastructure planning, engineering, construction, environmental consulting, urban planning, architecture, and program management services to public and private clients across the United States for more than 50 years. Requirements

  • Completion of Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university.
  • Minimal experience is required for incumbents with a Bachelor's Degree; no experience required with a Master's degree.
  • Basic computer skills required to enter data into spreadsheets or databases.
  • Math skills to perform simple calculations; willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation (preferred).
  • Proficient interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Capability to develop technical writings and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop plans and drawings related to ITS and Traffic design, including traffic signal design, fiber optic communications cable routing and splicing, utility coordination, signing and striping, and traffic safety studies.
  • Organize and conduct ITS and Traffic engineering investigations, planning, and analysis with a well-defined scope.
  • Outline and prepare straightforward technical reports of sections of more complex reports, working under the periodic review of a more experienced professional.
  • Research feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, regulatory agency specifications, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Contribute to the development of specifications and permit applications and write miscellaneous reports.
  • Prepare preliminary man-hour, cost, and material quantity estimates.
  • Participate in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines as required.
  • Perform field observations of construction where appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
