About The Position

The AECOM ITS/Traffic Department is actively seeking a creative, self-driven, highly talented and experienced ITS and Traffic Engineer for employment in the Atlanta, GA office. On AECOM projects in the ITS/Traffic Department you will work on ITS and traffic signal projects with a variety of tasks maintaining, designing, specifying and supporting traffic signal system and ITS devices, communication networks, and operations centers. You will have the opportunity to work on a mixture of ITS projects including planning, design, communications networks, operations, data analysis, asset management and maintenance. Many of these will be innovative projects that implement the latest technologies for improving surface street transportation. Activities may include, but are not limited to: Serve as Project Engineer on different assignments as appropriate, with specific focus on ITS communications infrastructure asset management including GPS mapping and database encoding of ITS and traffic signal facilities Effectively manage project individual and team tasks, coordinating with client, AECOM, and partner members including engineers, planners, and technicians. Work on projects with traffic signals, communication networks, physical infrastructure, logical operations, plans and specifications, construction management, materials specifications review, connected/automated vehicle systems, transportation data science, and data and operations center facilities. Work on or provide technical and quality oversight for design projects with roadway, traffic signal and ITS components and communications networks. Develop written technical requirements and acceptance testing procedures and perform training for clients and AECOM team members. Develop and maintain complex infrastructure documents, diagrams, and databases, including quality audits to verify data accuracy and acceptance of work performed by others. Coordinate with agency DOT operations and network administrator clients to implement or manage the implementation of any of the above. Effectively manage assigned projects/tasks and be in responsible charge of task activities and schedule. Periodic travel required within Georgia and neighboring states.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Civil Engineer or related field and 2 years of experience in ITS and traffic operations, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Georgia and municipal DOT traffic signal operations and system software
  • Experience with the Georgia DOT Fiber Asset Management System and GDOT outside plant infrastructure
  • Georgia PE registration or ability to register within 6 months from hire date
