About The Position

This position reports to the Senior Manager - IT PMO with the primary responsibility for the effective management of various IT projects. The IT Project Manager (PM) will be the single point of accountability for the delivery of projects to meet objectives; manages the day-to-day activities of assigned projects; ensures the quality of the team's work. The PM is responsible for performing a variety of tasks including planning, facilitating meetings, setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring, summarizing and communicating progress of the project. The PM actively leads and directs cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure all deliverables, program/project/campaign objectives, process milestones and quality measures are completed on-time and on-budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems or related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in an Information Technology (IT) project manager role with an emphasis on managing projects in a PMO office by aligning business requirements with IT solutions.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, and Iterative development to projects in a matrixed environment.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices applied in the planning, design, implementation and maintenance of information technologies.
  • Ability to concurrently manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to plan and develop time and cost estimates for project’s activities.
  • Ability to utilize an automated project management system, effectively allocating/utilizing project resources.
  • Ability to consistently implement projects delivering value to stakeholders.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management to assess business requirements to plan, manage and deliver stable, reliable and cost-effective technology solutions for business problems.
  • Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal, negotiation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate project teams of professional, technical, and non-technical personnel.
  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport’s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
  • Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection (CBP) security access clearance within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for CBP security access clearance upon each CBP security access renewal.
  • Ability to obtain CJIS certification in order to manage Department of Public Safety projects with sensitive data requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP® Certification is desirable.
  • Three (3) years management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of airport operations and related technologies.
  • Experience managing on-shore, offshore, internal, and external vendor resources.
  • Knowledge of the aviation industry including local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Experience with developing and presenting business cases to executive leadership.
  • Experience with preparing Capital Plans and supporting justification.
  • Experience with managing multiple large scale multi-year contracts from inception to close.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and executes project plans, identifies dependencies, identifies and mitigates risk, and resolves project issues in a timely fashion delivering maximum value to stakeholders.
  • Assists with creation and manages contract solicitations and capacity, procurement items (requisitions, delivery orders, purchase orders, change orders), and project capital budgets (including transition to Operating and Maintenance budgets).
  • Provides all required accurate status reporting and communications (weekly reports, monthly reports, project meetings, stakeholder updates, executive updates / presentations, regular project meetings / agendas, responsibilities matrices) and manages stakeholder and project team expectations.
  • Effectively manages scope, schedule, resources, and budget for all assigned tasks and ensures effective change control across each aspect.
  • Effectively leads and motivates project teams through the tasks of developing and executing project objectives.
  • Manages vendor relationships and sets appropriate expectations on project deliverables, resources requirements, and quality for the implementation and delivery of commercial software products as needed for a project.
  • Works with the ITS Business Analysts and Business Technology Partners to determine and translate business requirements into technology solutions.
  • Ensures compliance with internal project management methodology, including documentation, analysis, and sharing of lessons learned at the conclusion of projects.
  • Validates the completion of project documentation and relevant knowledge bases.
  • Provides mentoring, coaching and direction setting to team members.
  • Identifies, analyzes and improves existing processes within the organization to meet new goals and objectives.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
