About The Position

The ITS and Fare Technology Administrator is responsible for supporting, troubleshooting, and monitoring fare collection systems for VIA, including fareboxes, ticket vending machines, and mobile ticketing. This role involves researching and testing advanced vehicle technologies, managing software and hardware for fare collection systems, and coordinating project teams for system implementations. The administrator also oversees contractors, manages procurement projects, and ensures compliance with security standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Technology, or related area.
• At least three years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination thereof.
• Experience with IT and technical support tools such as SharePoint and websites.
• Experience with implementation projects for large commercial off-the-shelf client/server applications.
• Ability to specialize in transit-oriented applications or similar systems.
• Experience with automated fare vending equipment is a plus.
• Experience with on-vehicle systems such as cameras and passenger counters is preferred.
• Knowledge of software applications for office systems and maintenance software for fare collection equipment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the design and implementation of a routed IP network.
• Experience with automated fare vending equipment design and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Support, troubleshoot, monitor, and report on fare collection systems.
• Manage software and hardware for ticket vending machines and revenue collection equipment.
• Direct the resolution of issues impacting daily fare collection operations.
• Coordinate training for Fiscal Management staff on new fare media and software.
• Research new technologies to improve operations and customer experience.
• Manage procurement projects for new vehicle technologies.
• Create and manage security and access of data, maintaining PCI security.
• Perform analysis on system issues and maintain documentation on installation and maintenance tasks.
• Oversee fare collection system-related contractors during project implementation.
• Supervise employees supporting VIA's fare collection system.
