About The Position

The Data Base Administrator/Integration Specialist at Bemidji State University (BSU) and Northwest Technical College (NTC) plays a crucial role in providing technical expertise for the analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of applications and database systems. Requirements

  • Experience in professional database administration, software integration, or application development.
  • Knowledge of relational database design, including table design, stored procedures, and optimization using Oracle, MSSQL Server, or MySQL.
  • Experience in application development that integrates multiple programming languages and platforms.
  • Experience programming to extract, store, manage, and report data.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or related field.
  • Two years of professional experience in database administration or software integration.
  • Knowledge of Minnesota State databases and experience with MSSQL Server, MySQL, Visual Studio, .Net, XML, and Microsoft Access.
  • Interpersonal and analytical skills for effective collaboration with customers.
  • Skills in critical thinking, planning, project management, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Administering database systems and integrating tools to optimize security and efficiency.
  • Overseeing the integration of Minnesota State operational data with BSU and NTC database systems.
  • Monitoring resource requirements to ensure database systems can handle expected workloads and growth.
  • Providing input for guidelines, policies, and procedures for data management in adherence to security guidelines.
  • Participating in the development of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans related to database and application recovery.
  • Ensuring databases are optimized, secure, and backed up, while participating in user provisioning processes.
  • Developing and maintaining system and software integrations, including APIs and file transfers.
  • Collaborating with instructional and technical staff to support software utilization for quality teaching and learning.
  • Engaging with end users to understand data requirements and deliver comprehensive solutions.
  • Conducting analysis of business processes to ensure integration of programming languages and tools with business needs.
  • Providing programming to extract, store, manage, and report data from the Minnesota State ERP and databases.
  • Creating documentation for future development and ensuring applications meet specified requirements.
