About The Position

The North America Innovation Technology Quality (ITQ) Pet team has an opening for an ITQ Technologist role supporting innovation, renovation and holistic margin management (HMM) projects across palatability and ingredient solution technology development in dry, wet, treat, and fresh pet foods. The role will encompass bench and pilot plant support to enable palatability and functional ingredient technology development of dry, wet, treat and fresh foods. An ideal candidate will be a dependable partner for Technology team members, be familiar with meat handling, have a strong learning agility, be comfortable in a fast-paced dynamic environment, and enjoy working with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree. Or, high school diploma with 3+ years of related experience.
  • Basic computer/technology skills (Office Suite)
  • Comfortable in food processing (pilot plant or plant) environment; comfortable operating and troubleshooting equipment
  • Basic understanding of food safety and human safety
  • Ability to complete work without frequent daily direction
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate in a high performing technical team
  • Able to independently manage your responsibilities and prioritize across multiple competing priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of and familiarity with meat handling and basic understanding/experience of Pet manufacturing
  • Demonstrated passion and creativity around equipment set-up and modifications, food processing and product evaluation

Responsibilities

  • Design, coordinate and execute experiments of North America (NA) Pet foods from bench to pilot scale manufacturing working with R&D scientists, R&D technologists/technicians and Integrated Operations support
  • Build “go-to” technical expertise in dry and wet pilot plant equipment setup across all product formats and processes
  • Procure and manage materials as needed to support pilot plant runs and bench top experiments
  • Collect data both manually and electronically; organize and document for future use
  • Drive sample collection and shipments, working closely with R&D Scientists
  • Manage some projects independently while working collaboratively with others to deliver results
  • Build and leverage cross-ITQ and external network to support and execute work
  • Clearly communicate status of key deliverables and partner with R&D scientists to adapt deliverables with business dynamics
