About The Position
The Itinerant Talented Teacher for Visual Arts at Jefferson Parish Schools is responsible for instructing students identified as talented in the areas of visual arts, drama, or music. This role involves teaching students about the history, aesthetics, criticism, and production of their chosen talent area. The teacher will develop a curriculum tailored to meet the individual needs of each talented student, as outlined in their individual education program. This position requires the teacher to maintain accurate and timely records and reports, ensuring that parents are kept informed of their child's progress and needs through regular communication and conferences. In addition to curriculum development, the teacher will act as a resource for administrators, fellow teachers, and parents, fostering an environment that encourages creativity and individual talent development. The teacher will create an aesthetic environment conducive to learning and provide opportunities for students to showcase their talents to appropriate audiences. The role also emphasizes the importance of fostering a deeper understanding of the arts, encouraging students to engage in creative thought processes that extend beyond mere representation. The work environment is primarily in a school setting, and the itinerant nature of the position means that the teacher may work at different schools throughout the district. The work hours will align with the standard hours required of teachers at the respective schools, and there may be occasions where evening, weekend, or holiday work is necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
