About The Position

This position is responsible for the safety, security and well-being of each child enrolled in the ASES program. The Itinerant Site Director - ASES will provide coverage for all sites regardless of size in the absence of Site Director - ASES and support sites as needed. Responsibilities include timely completion of paperwork, supervision and interaction with students on a daily basis, individually and via group. The Itinerant Site Director - ASES provides stability, structure and organization to sites assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must have 48 completed college units OR pass the District’s Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (a basic math and literacy exam)
  • Must have either a minimum of 6 completed units in child development, elementary and/or middle school education, recreation or related field OR a minimum of 6 months documented work experience in an ASES program
  • A minimum of 2 years experience working in an after school or group childcare setting with elementary aged children and/or middle school aged children
  • A minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification
  • Valid TB results (required every 4 years)
  • Must receive Fingerprint Clearance (paid by Harmonium)
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel through San Diego County; when using personal vehicle, must maintain valid driver’s license and current auto insurance
  • Ability to operate a vehicle
  • High energy needed with the ability to balance multiple high-stress tasks
  • Ability to work in noisy and outdoor environments
  • Ability to travel throughout the county with the flexibility required to meet job duties
  • Frequent repetitive hand use and simple grasping, i.e., desk and computer functions
  • Ability to sit for prolonged period
  • Ability to lift and carry up to twenty pounds
  • Ability to operate a computer
  • Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching above and below the shoulder

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety, security, and well-being of students enrolled in the program
  • Open/close the site as required
  • Maintain a clean and orderly designated school space
  • Apply progressive disciplinary procedures including Employee Corrective Counseling, while providing strength based support
  • Collaborate regularly with the principal to ensure program meets expectations and provide supervisor monthly progress reports
  • Monitor and ensure employees’ timecards are accurate and approved in a timely manner
  • Responsible for picking-up, maintaining and returning all devices being used during distance learning and remote working
  • Evaluate, develop and implement improvement plans for assigned sites
  • Supervise day-to-day activities of the in-person and distance learning program while following contract
  • Provide regular supervision to reinforce strengths and work on challenges with subordinates
  • Develop and implementing a diverse, creative mix of arts & crafts, sports, recreation, academic (homework assistance), and, that are age and interest specific for the children enrolled
  • Manage student-staff ratio
  • Create and monitor enrichment activities student behavior plans and transitional plans when necessary
  • Manage attendance and snack records
  • Ensure all administrative paperwork is accurate and completed on time
  • Work effectively across all program service areas for Agency wide effective communication and operations
  • Under HR’s direction will participate in preparing and reviewing in any legal related matters
  • Responsible for supervising, coaching, training, directing and evaluating staff
  • Responsible for holding regular Site Meetings and Supervision Meetings to ensure consistency amongst staff as well as to review policies and procedures
  • Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with staff, parents, and children
  • Create and distribute program information internally and externally, including; forms, newsletters, calendars of activities, etc.
  • Conduct regular parent meetings to distribute information, as well as obtain feedback and suggestions
  • Adhere to fiscal and Harmonium policies and procedures
  • Advance the Agency’s mission, vision, initiatives and core values within respective role
  • Act as a role model for staff
  • Provide overall control and direction of staff on how to interact with internal & external customers
