The IT Web Designer/Developer at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the university's website and web communications. This role involves managing the university's web presence, ensuring effective user experience, and providing technical support for web-related projects. The position requires a blend of design talent, technical expertise, and crisis communication skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality content and meeting the needs of the campus community.

  • Develop and maintain the university's website and web applications.
  • Manage logistics related to top-level web communications and emergency operations web communications.
  • Provide strategic consultation for user experience on the university website.
  • Oversee information architecture, assessment, evaluation, and statistical tracking for web development.
  • Manage projects related to web and electronic communications.
  • Conduct social media monitoring for critical and crisis communications.
  • Meet with non-technical peers to define and gather requirements for web projects.
  • Document application systems and procedures.
  • Provide training on web content management systems as needed.
  • Review analytics and provide reports to management with recommendations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Web Development, Digital Media, Web Graphic Design, Computer Programming, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with WordPress is preferred; experience with Drupal is a plus.
  • Ability to manage transitions from Drupal to WordPress.
  • Familiarity with the university and its culture.
  • Experience in crisis communication and critical communication skills.
