About The Position

VIP is seeking a highly skilled IT Systems Engineer Team Lead to join our IT Team. This role is pivotal in leading a talented team in analyzing, testing, and building leading-edge solutions, focusing heavily on advanced process automation, security, and scalability. Position Type: Full Time, Hybrid. This position will report to our office headquarters in Colchester, VT Starting Pay Range: $90,000 - $130,000/year

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in systems or software engineering, with strong leadership experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent certifications/experience).
  • Solid experience with Windows and Linux Servers, networking concepts ( OSI model, TCP/IP, EIGRP routing, VLANs ).
  • Solid experience with scripting and automation.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization and containerization technologies.
  • Strong Leadership and mentoring skills with an ability to think outside the box.
  • Excellent analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with a methodical work style and attention to detail.
  • Advanced project management and time management skills.
  • Experience with change control management and proper documentation is vital.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, MCSE, or CISSP are a plus.
  • Experience with Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (AOS, AHV) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments like AWS and/or GCP .

Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership and Architecture - Lead the definition, maintenance, and architecture of our core technical infrastructure, including designing and implementing complex, enterprise-class solutions.
  • Automation & Efficiency - Drive significant process automation using tools like Ansible, PowerShell, and bash scripting to streamline system builds, updates, and maintenance, reducing human intervention.
  • System Integrity & Security - Formulate, monitor, and enforce policies and procedures to ensure system maintenance, integrity, and robust security. Implement and maintain SOC1 & SOC2 security policies and measures to protect against cyber threats.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting - Provide advanced, detail-oriented support for all installed systems and infrastructure (x64/x86-based servers, virtualization, networking). Expertly diagnose root causes of complex incidents and collaborate with cross-functional IT teams (Security, Middleware, Operations) for full resolution.
  • Deployment & Project Management - Research, beta test, and lead full deployment projects for new tools and services. Support critical systems including reverse proxies ( HAProxy ), web application servers ( Tomcat ), and cloud solutions from vendors like BeyondTrust, Crowdstrike, and Okta .
  • Team Development - Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Level I, II, and III IT Systems Engineers, guiding the team in incident tracking and alert response.
