We are seeking a cleared or clearable IT Systems Engineering Section Manager for a critical role in our engineering organization to be responsible for managing a team and ensuring successful completion of projects. This is a dual role position, involving direct management and leadership of a team of highly skilled technical professionals supporting cutting-edge defense and security systems. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with functional people management, contributing directly to mission-critical programs while developing and supporting engineering talent.

Requirements

  • Candidate must have Bachelors Degree and 9 years engineering experience, OR Masters Degree and 6 years engineering experience, OR a PhD and 2 years engineering experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated functional management experience
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Active Top Secret / SCI security clearance to be considered
  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise architectures including Windows Server, RHEL, virtualization, and storage technologies
  • Working knowledge of containerization, automation, and Software Defined Networking (SDN)

  • M.S., M.B.A., or other advanced degree
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Broad technical background across IT, software development, and cybersecurity
  • Experience with U.S. Government contracts or defense systems
  • Experience as a technical lead, functional lead, or leadership in the military
  • Hands-on experience with networking technologies from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, F5, and Ciena
  • Ability to create and interpret network architecture and configuration diagrams using commercial tools
  • Experience in recruiting and developing top engineering talent
  • Proven ability to represent organizational capabilities to customers and stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Managing and guiding cyber systems engineers including IT and software professionals
  • Setting objectives and then monitoring and reviewing yearly progress for your team
  • Being responsible and accountable for managing the workload of your direct reports
  • Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring top engineering talent
  • Providing timely, constructive support and feedback to your reports on a regular basis
  • Completing performance assessments of your team members
  • Motivating your team members (engagement) and meeting with them regularly
  • Providing mentoring and career development to each team member
  • Coordinating training for each team member
  • Providing appropriate tools and resources for your team’s development activities
  • Leadership of engineering teams in the design, integration, and maintenance of enterprise-level cyber systems
  • Program staffing for optimal execution
  • Technical direction, guidance, and mentoring of project team members
  • Working programs, proposals, and internally funded activities in a technical or leadership role
  • Risk-mitigation planning and execution
  • Strategic problem solving
  • Earned value management
  • Drive technical execution using best practices in secure development, automation, and network design
  • Contribute to DevOps strategy and process improvement initiatives across environments
  • Manage Cost Account Management (CAM) and Risk Management activities, where applicable
  • Collaborate with peers and leadership to ensure optimized resource allocation and mission alignment
  • Support deployment pipelines using the Atlassian suite and other CI/CD toolsets
  • Automate routine tasks and improve system efficiency through scripting and scheduling tools
