Essential Function: We are seeking a dynamic Cloud & Systems Engineer to drive our organization’s transition from a predominantly on‑prem environment into a modern, cloud‑first Azure architecture. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in hybrid infrastructure, enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, and wants to take a lead role in planning and executing our Azure migration. You will influence architecture decisions, modernize legacy systems, automate infrastructure, and ensure reliability across both cloud and on‑prem environments

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure with a focus on Azure; or Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience; or In lieu of a degree, 12+ years of hands-on IT infrastructure experience, including Azure engineering, DevOps practices, and Microsoft-based on‑prem server environments.
  • Automation & Scripting Skills: Proficiency with PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar languages for automation and infrastructure management.
  • Cloud & DevOps Exposure: Experience with cloud infrastructure, infrastructure‑as‑code, and modern DevOps tooling.
  • Networking Knowledge: Solid understanding of hybrid networking, core protocols, routing, firewalls, and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Systems Management: Hands-on experience with Intune/SCCM/MECM or similar configuration management tools is advantageous.
  • Problem Solving & Collaboration: Strong analytical skills, the ability to troubleshoot complex issues, and a customer‑focused mindset.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence technical decisions.
  • Onsite Requirement: Ability to work onsite 3 days per week in Springfield, OH and/or Eaton, OH.

Nice To Haves

  • Azure or DevOps‑focused certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert) are a plus.
  • Experience with Docker or Kubernetes is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Cloud Infrastructure & Modernization Design, build, and manage secure, scalable Azure cloud infrastructure.
  • Lead the migration of on‑prem workloads into Azure, including re‑architecture where needed.
  • Develop hybrid architectures that connect legacy systems with Azure-native services.
  • Automation & Infrastructure-as-Code Automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell.
  • Promote and implement Infrastructure-as-Code standards across the environment.
  • Improve operational efficiency through automation and repeatable build processes.
  • Monitoring & Performance Optimization Build and maintain robust monitoring and observability using LogicMonitor, Azure Monitor, and similar tools.
  • Analyze system performance, proactively identify issues, and optimize for availability and efficiency.
  • Maintain visibility across both cloud and on‑prem infrastructure.
  • Security, Governance & Compliance Partner with security teams to apply cloud governance, identity controls, and security best practices.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met across hybrid environments, including audit and data residency controls.
  • Maintain secure baselines for configurations and deployments.
  • Incident Response & Troubleshooting Lead response to infrastructure incidents in cloud and on‑prem environments.
  • Perform root cause analysis and drive long-term remediation actions.
  • Troubleshoot issues spanning virtualization, networking, storage, Windows servers, and Azure services.
  • Technical Leadership & Collaboration Serve as a senior technical resource and mentor for other engineers.
  • Guide architectural decisions and help shape the organization’s cloud strategy.
  • Promote best practices for cloud adoption, automation, and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Culture: Display a positive attitude and strong work ethic that reflects the Mission and Core Values of Silfex.
  • Create and maintain a culture where workplace safety is part of everything we do.

  • Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S.
  • Demonstrate ownership of continuous improvement ideas and activities.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness, housekeeping and 5S within work area.
  • Maintain these areas to the highest degree possible while responsibly escalating any maintenance issues.
