About The Position

The Desktop Systems Administrator is responsible for the lifecycle management of Agency desktop computers, including procurement, installation, and ongoing support. This role focuses on automating Windows deployment via Microsoft Intune, testing system updates for compatibility, and serving as the highest technical escalation point for the desktop support team.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of enterprise-level experience in desktop OS implementation and configuration within a Microsoft 365 environment.
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Intune and Azure AD .
  • Strong experience with PowerShell scripting and application packaging.
  • In-depth knowledge of Group Policy and Windows automation.
  • High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for field work.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and project planning skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with healthcare application security requirements is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Intune Administration: Configure and manage devices using Microsoft Intune; enforce security baselines, compliance policies, conditional access, and BitLocker encryption.
  • OS Deployment: Develop and automate Windows operating system deployment processes using Intune (SCCM experience is a plus).
  • Application Lifecycle: Package, deploy, and monitor applications across the enterprise; maintain up-to-date firmware and system image files.
  • Patch Management: Test and validate Windows updates, firmware, and software patches in a laboratory environment prior to agency-wide release.
  • Policy Management: Design and maintain Desktop Operating Systems Group Policies (GPO) and Local Policies in an enterprise environment.
  • Inventory & Licensing: Maintain accurate records of hardware assets, software licenses, support renewals, and system documentation.
  • Technical Escalation: Provide Tier 3 support for the Help Desk team on complex incidents; troubleshoot enrollment failures and app installation issues.
  • Security Operations: Deploy and maintain endpoint protection (e.g., Sophos), monitor for unauthorized software/viruses, and ensure compliance with healthcare security standards.
  • Infrastructure Knowledge: Support desktop integration with LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VOIP, and Azure AD services.
