About The Position

We are seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator to support and enhance our Microsoft 365 enterprise environment, including SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Exchange Online, Entra ID identity infrastructure, and endpoint management. This role is responsible for ensuring our systems, access controls, and operational processes remain reliable, secure, and well organized. The ideal candidate will be comfortable evaluating existing systems, identifying issues, and implementing operational improvements. This includes improving how teams collaborate in SharePoint and OneDrive, helping establish clear standards and processes, and strengthening the overall structure and security of our environment. This role is best suited for someone who enjoys improving systems and processes, not just maintaining them. In addition to improving systems, the IT Systems Administrator will provide Tier-1 support, troubleshoot technical issues, and assist employees across multiple states in a fully remote environment. This role requires someone who is responsive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working directly with end users This position is available to candidates located near our Herndon, VA headquarters who are able to work a hybrid schedule in order to support our in-office technical needs. We are looking for candidates available to work from 9:00am to 5:00pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. Occasional after-hours support may be required for maintenance, incidents, or time-sensitive issues.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in IT systems administration
  • Bachelors degree in computer sciences or similar discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 environments, including SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and Entra ID
  • Experience troubleshooting end-user technical issues in a remote environment
  • Experience establishing documentation, procedures, or operational controls
  • Experience implementing endpoint management or device compliance practices (MDM/Intune or equivalent)
  • Ability to manage priorities independently and follow tasks through to completion
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and responsiveness
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users

Nice To Haves

  • Azure tenant governance experience (RBAC/policy/logging/Defender posture)
  • Experience implementing SSO (SAML/OIDC, SCIM) or managing SaaS access
  • Purview/DLP/labels/retention experience depending on audit requirements

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Microsoft 365 services, including SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Exchange Online, and Entra ID
  • Improve the structure, usability, and reliability of SharePoint and OneDrive to better support business workflows
  • Monitor system health and proactively resolve issues affecting productivity
  • Manage Microsoft licensing and help optimize license usage and assignments
  • Maintain and strengthen security configurations, access controls, and operational standards across Microsoft 365 and related platforms
  • Support logging, auditing, and documentation to maintain a secure and well-governed environment
  • Identify risks and opportunities for improvement, and implement practical solutions to improve reliability and security
  • Maintain documentation of systems, procedures, and standards
  • Provide Tier-1 technical support to both our Herndon, VA office and remote employees across multiple states
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, access, and general IT issues with a high level of responsiveness and follow-through
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including provisioning accounts, access, and equipment
  • Define and maintain laptop and endpoint standards, inventory practices, and security protocols
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve systems, processes, and day-to-day operations
