About The Position

KBR is seeking an IT System Administrator to join our team and support of NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility under the Range Operations Contract (ROC). This position performs critical IT activities in support of the ROC. This position is responsible for the administration, maintenance and troubleshooting of servers, network operating systems, backup systems, directory services, virtual clusters and production database servers. This position ensures that all systems meet the program and security standards for the production environments on the contract. The System Administrator will operate as a member of a highly motivated IT teams to support highly complex projects involving the design, analysis, maintenance and implementation of range systems, equipment, and networks. Additional Responsibilities: Maintains smooth operation of servers and multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Responsible for the administration of one or more of the following data systems: Computer systems hardware, software, information systems & peripheral equipment such as servers, desktops, printers and storage devices. Maintains, installs, upgrades and configures data systems, administers operating systems, and maintains basic security and recovery procedures such as scheduling and backups. Maintains set up of administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space. Maintains and conforms IT assets to program security policies and support regular audits. Interacts with IT team, engineering, and operations users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides systems backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. Maintains evaluates Virtual Systems Clusters (Application & Data) for high availability and resource management. Implement and maintain access controls through directory services and other program requirements. Relies upon experience, interpersonal skills, and broad knowledge of field to ensure task completion in compliance with policies, procedures, and business strategy

Requirements

  • Must currently have or have open/ongoing investigation for US government security clearance (Secret)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or evaluated equivalent)
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Experience with System Security Plans in the Federal Government
  • Extensive system admin experience with Windows Server
  • Knowledge and experience with Linux operating systems
  • Understand System Security Controls and how they relate to Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms) and Risk Based Decisions (RBDs)
  • Familiarity or experience with NIST 800-53 Rev 4 for Assessing Security and Privacy Controls in Federal Information Systems and Organizations
  • Proven ability to research and problem-solve both independently and within a team environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing active directory, with a strong focus on user account administration, security group management, and access provisioning.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate and socialize with personnel and customers (critical)
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow complex procedural documentation and guidance
  • Understands risk assessment planning to action completion
  • Perform compliance and risks analysis tasks to systems standards
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work directly with client, teammates, business partners, end-users, and other stakeholders to review, validate and implement requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Storage Area Networks (SANs), Fiber Channel, Fiber Connections, Cluster environment is a plus
  • Experience with BigFix, Splunk, Nessus is a plus
  • Experience with networks, firewalls, switches, Hyper-V, Virtual Machines (VMs), Virtual Checkpoints/Snapshots
  • Experience with remote management tools, disk encryption, video surveillance systems, system backup solutions
  • Certifications are evaluated if presented
