Information Technology Services is a team of dedicated professionals providing core technology and cybersecurity services to agencies statewide, enabling state employees to serve Idaho's citizens. Information Technology Services (ITS), currently has an opening for an IT Systems and Infrastructure Engineer II position in our Chinden office in Boise. This position manages a wide range of essential IT infrastructure and services across multiple domains and tenants. Responsibilities encompass managing traditional on-premise components like Active Directory, Group policy, and Windows servers, alongside cloud services such as Entra ID, AWS, and M365. This position is also responsible for critical functions like email administration, DNS, Infobox, Certificates/PKI, server patch management, and providing Tier 3 break/fix support. Please note: The successful candidate will be required to pass multiple, comprehensive fingerprint-based background checks specific to the agencies ITS supports.

  • Provides hands-on systems administration and management of advanced enterprise class server infrastructure in support of a diverse customer base on a 24/7/365 basis
  • Provides direct customer support for problem resolution and escalation
  • Conducts complete diagnosis of most technology problems, factoring in an understanding of the technical architecture
  • Participates in design, and contributes to technical insights and ideas
  • Anticipates implementation obstacles and develops plans to address them
  • Analyzes cross-technology and cross-platform issues
  • Provides input into the technology plan for the organization and ensures that plans are integrated effectively with other aspects of the technical infrastructure
  • May provide consulting services to project teams on areas of expertise
  • Good knowledge of current information technology trends and capabilities. Typically gained by a bachelor's degree or equivalent college level/vocational-tech coursework directly related to current information technology OR at least two years of work experience in information technology. Education and experience must be within the last five years.
  • Experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting network, server, or storage systems. Typically gained by at least two years of full-time work experience where installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network, server or storage systems was part of your primary job responsibilities.
  • Resolving network or server problems. Typically gained by at least two years of full-time work experience (within the last five years) where resolving network or server problems were part of their primary responsibilities.
  • Working with end users to develop and implement information technology solutions for user computing needs in a business environment. Typically gained by at least two years of full-time work experience interviewing and consulting with clients/users to develop and implement solutions to meet computing requirements in a business environment as a primary responsibility of the job.
  • Good knowledge of Windows server configuration and management practices. Typically gained by at least two years of related experience.
  • Experience administering Active Directory, group policy, DNS, email, Entra ID, and troubleshooting. Typically gained by at least two years of related experience.
