About The Position
Hofstra University is seeking an IT Support Technician to join the Zucker School of Medicine's Information Technology team. This full-time position is essential for providing classroom technology and desktop support to faculty, staff, and students. The IT Support Technician will report directly to the Director of Information Technology and will be responsible for ensuring that all technology-related needs are met efficiently and effectively. This role is client-facing, requiring not only technical expertise but also exceptional interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse user base. The IT Support Technician will support a variety of technologies, including cloud-based applications, desktop software, mobile hardware, and audiovisual systems. The position involves routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of classroom audiovisual equipment in various settings such as classrooms, labs, and meeting spaces. Additionally, the technician will maintain an efficient internal inventory management system, coordinate software updates for loaner laptops, and manage hardware stock. On-site training support for faculty, staff, and students regarding classroom technology will also be a key responsibility, along with updating instructional guides for users. In this role, the technician will track all user desktop software and hardware issues, ensuring timely problem resolution or escalation through the IT incident tracking system. Monitoring and managing student printing terminals, troubleshooting associated software issues, and supporting IT/AV-related projects will also be part of the job. The IT Support Technician will stay informed about emerging technologies and may perform other related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall mission of supporting the education and well-being of students at Hofstra University.
