About The Position

The IT Support Technician at Winpak Portion Packaging, Inc. is responsible for managing the Local Area Network (LAN), related computer equipment, and mobile devices. Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology, this role involves ensuring the integrity and security of the LAN, providing technical support to users, and maintaining IT equipment and software.

Requirements

  • 3 - 4 years of IT support related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant software including MS-Office, Windows OS, and Server OS.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to communicate with a wide range of people.
  • Good time management skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and make quick decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Mobile Device Management.
  • Familiarity with IT policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the integrity of the LAN by complying with Corporate IT directives and maintaining backup procedures for the servers.
  • Ensure the most current version of approved antivirus software is installed on the servers and that all computers are updated with the latest software versions.
  • Act as the local help desk for users by answering queries and providing technical support.
  • Install software and/or hardware for clients and servers as directed.
  • Work with Human Resources to ensure all users have read and returned a signed copy of the IT policies and manage system security access based on job descriptions and employment status.
  • Responsible for IT equipment purchases including completing appropriations documentation and obtaining approvals within Corporate guidelines.
  • Maintain a detailed fixed asset ledger of all computer hardware at the location and remote locations.
  • Train users or work with Human Resources to source IT-related training needs for software tools such as Windows, Excel, and Word.
  • Maintain the local telephone system and coordinate data and voice communications services.
  • Support cell phones, mobile devices, printers, and networking equipment as required.
  • Become a subject matter expert on Mobile Device Management for tablets used for internal applications.
  • Configure, maintain, and support handheld barcode wireless devices, servers, networking equipment, printers, copiers, scanners, PCs, laptops, tablets, and other IT equipment.
  • Perform other functions and special projects as assigned.
