About The Position

The IT Specialist provides hands-on support to ensure the smooth daily operation of technology for our small team of about 35 staff, while also contributing to strategic IT initiatives and system improvements. The (title) will be responsible for day to day management of our IT ticketing system, MDM system, events support, and other projects as needed. This role reports to the Head of IT and helps with the management of IT infrastructure and support services for FJS as well as affiliated in-building entities and staff through service agreements. This is a highly collaborative role that blends direct user support with systems monitoring, documentation, participation and some leadership in IT projects. It’s an excellent opportunity for a tech-savvy problem-solver who enjoys working across teams and contributing to a mission-driven organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four years’ experience in IT support role.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in configuring and troubleshooting Apple products including MacBook, iPad, and iPhone.
  • Experience in working in a professional workplace environment, experience in non-profits or foundations preferred.
  • Experience working with software packages and platforms such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, video conferencing solutions, and remote desktop software.
  • Experience with MDM platforms such as jamf or Mosyle.
  • Working knowledge with networking configuration.
  • Strong familiarity with digital security best practices.
  • Highly professional and able to maintain tact and confidentiality at all times.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and willingness to travel to participate in staff retreats.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing Google Gemini and/or other artificial intelligence platforms.
  • Experience working or volunteering in the women’s human rights and social justice movements and/or philanthropy.
  • Associate degree in computer science or related field.
  • Applicable certifications such as CompTIA A+, Google Workspace, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance and support for incoming inquiries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware by responding to support tickets and other inquiries via chat, email, or phone.
  • Ask questions to determine the nature of the problem and walk staff through problem-solving processes.
  • Diagnose and resolve system errors, network problems, and other computer systems issues.
  • Remotely access hardware or software for staff to make changes and fix problems.
  • Follow up with staff to ensure full resolution of issues.
  • Install, update, configure, or repair hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Resolve low level technical problems with Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and other systems.
  • Install, configure and maintain computer peripherals for users.
  • Provide entry-level website support – Wordpress, image editing, and video editing.
  • Maintain optimal daily performance of computer systems.
  • Monitor operations of devices and systems such as MDM, copy machines, data backups, and antivirus.
  • Generate reports to analyze common complaints and problems.
  • Request feedback and other methods of correspondence to improve support and training methods.
  • Regularly test shared equipment such as copy machines, AV equipment, etc., and proactively flag or resolve issues.
  • Report security concerns to the Head of IT.
  • Train staff members on ways to self-troubleshoot and self-diagnose problems.
  • Train staff on proper use and best practices for any software and hardware used.
  • Review training manuals and other IT documentation to suggest edits as needed.
  • Stay informed on current related news, trends, and best practices.
  • Research and suggest new ways to improve systems.
  • Update knowledge base articles.
  • Keep the MDM system’s apps and policies updated.
  • Inventory tracking.
  • Assist Head of IT with testing and deploying IT projects.
  • Ad hoc projects – work with the Head of IT and other departments to assist with various projects.
  • Lead AV system and video conferencing setup for onsite or remote events or meetings
  • Assist the executive team with additional on site IT support as requested.
  • Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned.
