About The Position

As the IT Specialist, your primary responsibility is to interpret problems and provide technical support for hardware, software, and systems. Key activity is troubleshooting reported anomalies using automated diagnostic programs, data analysis techniques, and business intelligence tools to resolve recurrent difficulties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working in IT
  • Successfully lead an installation group or team using project management skills
  • Perform advanced testing and troubleshooting for both copper and optical fiber installations
  • Discuss and evaluate numerous specific applications of information and communications technology (ICT) cabling installation
  • Make recommendations based on applicable codes, standards, and best practices
  • Implement the job plan and scope of work as well as perform retrofits and upgrades for existing infrastructure
  • Supporting the following software programs: Microsoft Office, Adobe Professional, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, VPN, OWA and Auto Cad LT
  • Technician must know how to use Microsoft Visio to create and update network diagrams
  • Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting copper and fiber (CAT5, CAT6, RG6, RG11)
  • Installing Cisco routers and switches
  • Installing and troubleshooting wireless P2P Cisco PIX firewalls
  • HP Printers
  • Familiarity with SAT TV, Internet and VOIP systems
  • Active Secret Required

Nice To Haves

  • BICSI certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Basic maintenance, security, and usage monitoring of IAP servers
  • Upkeep of maintenance contracts for all server hardware (servers, hubs switches, routers, software, etc.
  • Troubleshoot issues with IAP computers, printers and servers
  • While traveling to the remote sites, the incumbent is responsible to create/update/maintain the network diagram(s), inventory list as well as recommend repairs or upgrades
  • Assist in planning of upgrades, software conversions or installations
  • Maintain system backup programs, processes, and related documentation
  • Provide liaison support between the customer and users
  • Function as the helpdesk and database administrator
  • Maintains all system applications and interfaces
  • Maintain the integrity of the operating environment and ensure continuity with the business unit operations requirements
  • Generate reports and queries using established programming languages and tools such as SQL and Cognos in the satisfaction of reporting requirements and problem research and resolution
  • Perform data and systems analysis tasks that will support business application usage process improvements
  • Develop tools and procedures for daily operational support of users
  • Create and maintain user profiles, security elements and reporting of IT misuse or inappropriate use
  • Maintain systems and associated utilities to optimize operating efficiency
  • Tune, upgrade and monitor system performance, conduct disaster recovery and protects company proprietary information in accordance with established Corporate guidelines
  • Analyze, recommend, and install client requirements for hardware and software solutions
  • Maintain an effective and productive working relationship with users as the helpdesk resource for system problems
  • Set-up, replace or modify server environment or equipment
  • Support Corporate IT programmer/analysts and database administrators in developmental and routine maintenance operations
  • Maintain all system applications and interfaces to include basic troubleshooting and symptom diagnostics
