About The Position

The IT Specialist or Senior IT Specialist position at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign focuses on providing technical support for Instructional Computing Services (ICS). Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in IT-related functions, such as hardware/software support, programming, or network design for IT Specialist.
  • Four years of experience in IT-related functions for Senior IT Specialist.
  • Experience with desktop support and deployment tools used in conjunction with Windows, macOS, or mobile devices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Windows or Macintosh desktop operating systems.
  • Basic scripting experience in at least one relevant language such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Experience packaging applications for use in an endpoint management system.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and is self-motivated.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for large-scale teaching and learning environments.
  • Administer and maintain computer workstations and printers.
  • Install and configure workstations; maintain and upgrade Microsoft Windows and Mac OS workstations using Endpoint Management Systems.
  • Package, deploy, support, and maintain various specialty applications utilizing Endpoint Management Systems.
  • Provide timely software and hardware support and troubleshooting, including resolving network-related issues.
  • Configure user accounts, security groups, and permissions in Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Monitor workstations and systems for patching and respond to potential vulnerability security alerts.
  • Assist with Papercut portal functions such as reports, refunds, and research.
  • Respond and troubleshoot A/V support requests in Technology Services Labs.
  • Assist with the full life cycle of an endpoint from procurement to proper disposal.
