About The Position

Serves as an Information Technology Specialist responsible for planning, implementing, securing, and maintaining network services and activities. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The incumbent may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and COMPTIA Security+ (CCNA) or equivalent certifications defined in DoD 8570-01-M or equivalent alternative training/Testing as approved by DoD authority must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • IA Certification - 441 Basic required within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Executes procedures and coordinate corrective action to optimize network performance.
  • Implements plans and procedures for remote installation of applications and upgrades using state of the art software distribution methods.
  • Analyzes equipment and software reliability and utilization reports to identify and define problem areas and to establish end-to-end systems performance levels.
  • Utilizes benchmarks and performance measurement and evaluation data to manage network servers and data communication devices to support normal and surge workload.
  • Documents and tracks changes to configuration, protocol and user/system files.
  • Uses remote management software tools to maintain and update configuration, protocol and user/system files.
  • Evaluates the performance of network devices such as servers, workstations, and peripheral devices, and remote access systems.
  • Coordinates the development and implementation of configuration management plans for complex LANs and WANs.
